Frequent readers of my newsletter may remember that last year, I introduced bipartisan legislation to designate the U.S. Post Office located on Fremont Street in Kiel, WI as the “Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building”. I am happy to share with you that this week, my bill to honor Trooper Casper passed through the House of Representatives. Now, the bill awaits consideration in the Senate.
Trooper Casper’s life was tragically cut short in 2015 as he became the youngest police officer to be killed in the line of duty in our state’s history, renaming this post office in his honor serves as a lasting tribute to this young man who was unwavering in his commitment to keeping our streets safe.
Trooper Casper’s sacrifice should remind us all of the tremendous debt of gratitude we owe to our law enforcement officers. Let us remember Trooper Casper’s heroism and his dedication to duty and let us honor his memory by supporting those who continue to serve and protect our great state of Wisconsin.
I now strongly urge the Senate to take up this bipartisan legislation to ensure that we honor and commemorate the remarkable life and legacy of Trooper Casper. I look forward to the day we can see Trooper Casper’s name on the post office.
