State Trooper Trevor Casper Bill Passes the House

Frequent readers of my newsletter may remember that last year, I introduced bipartisan legislation to designate the U.S. Post Office located on Fremont Street in Kiel, WI as the “Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building”. I am happy to share with you that this week, my bill to honor Trooper Casper passed through the House of Representatives. Now, the bill awaits consideration in the Senate.

Trooper Casper’s life was tragically cut short in 2015 as he became the youngest police officer to be killed in the line of duty in our state’s history, renaming this post office in his honor serves as a lasting tribute to this young man who was unwavering in his commitment to keeping our streets safe.

Trooper Casper’s sacrifice should remind us all of the tremendous debt of gratitude we owe to our law enforcement officers. Let us remember Trooper Casper’s heroism and his dedication to duty and let us honor his memory by supporting those who continue to serve and protect our great state of Wisconsin.

I now strongly urge the Senate to take up this bipartisan legislation to ensure that we honor and commemorate the remarkable life and legacy of Trooper Casper. I look forward to the day we can see Trooper Casper’s name on the post office.

Military Construction and Veterans Affairs

This past week, the House of Representatives passed the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This legislation fully funds veterans' healthcare, invests in quality-of-life improvements such as housing and childcare, and strengthens deterrence in the Indo-Pacific. I will always support our veterans, and I was proud to vote in favor of this bill.

This bill also prevents the waste of hard-earned taxpayer dollars by:

  • Prohibiting funds from being used for abortions or gender-affirming care.
  • Banning the use of funds to promote critical race theory or diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
  • Ensuring only the U.S. flag or other official government flags are flow at VA facilities, not flags that promote left-wing political agendas.
  • Prohibiting the use of funds for various climate executive orders.
  • Ensuring veterans are not unconstitutionally barred from purchasing firearms.

Our service members and veterans have selflessly served our nation and defended our freedoms from adversaries abroad, and I am proud to champion legislation that ensures these heroes, and their loved ones, get the support and assistance they deserve in return.

80th Anniversary of D-Day

On June 6, 1944, the world witnessed an unprecedented act of courage and strategy as the Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history. D-Day, as it is famously known, marked the beginning of the end for Nazi occupation in Europe. As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of this pivotal event, it is a moment to honor the sacrifice, and indomitable spirit of those who fought for freedom.

D-Day was not just a military operation, it was a symbol of unity and determination. Soldiers from diverse backgrounds and nations fought side by side, united by the common goal of defeating tyranny. Their bravery paved the way for the liberation of Western Europe and ultimately contributed to the end of World War II.

The world has changed in many ways since 1944, but the principles that drove the Allies' actions remain timeless. Their legacy lives on in the peace and freedoms we enjoy today. May we never forget their sacrifices and always strive to uphold the ideals for which they so bravely fought.
