Many areas throughout the 6th district were affected by the storms and flooding Wisconsin experienced in the months of August and September. Late last week, the administration approved Federal funding for communities throughout Wisconsin impacted by the severe weather conditions.
In communicating with FEMA, I have discovered that while many constituents have called into FEMA at an earlier date requesting support, this does not mean that they are registered for potential federal relief through FEMA. Constituents must register in order to receive consideration, regardless of actions they may have taken in the recent past.
Constituents can register for relief support by visiting http://www.disasterassistance.gov, by using the FEMA app, by calling into 1-800-621-3362, or by visiting a recovery center in the area. Once registered, individuals will be contacted by an agent to set up a date and time for an official inspection of damages. FEMA inspectors will have documentation to prove that they work for the organization and will not be requesting any monetary return or payment for the inspection.
If the constituent’s claim is denied, they will need to submit a written and signed appeal, in addition to providing a repair cost estimate from a private builder or contractor. I will keep you updated on the situation as it progresses. For more information click here.
