Whistleblower Protections
Yesterday, I voted in favor of the Dr. Chris Kirkpatrick Whistleblower Protection Act, of which I am also a co-sponsor. The bill protects whistleblowers who bring to light problems at government agencies by setting minimum disciplinary standards across all government agencies regarding retaliation against whistleblowers, among other measures.

The bill has strong Wisconsin ties, as it's named after Dr. Chris Kirkpatrick, a psychologist at the VA Medical Center in Tomah. Kirkpatrick committed suicide after he was fired from the VA for questioning the over-medication of veterans who were being treated at the facility.

This bill, which was also sponsored by Sen. Johnson in the Senate, is an important step in making sure that federal agencies cannot ruin lives by retaliating against whistleblowers.

Happy National Farmers Day!
Yesterday was also National Farmers Day.

In the Sixth District alone, we have more than 8,000 farms growing and producing some of the world’s finest agricultural goods. I’m proud that our district and our state are known for superior dairy, corn, grain and numerous other farm products.

It’s a further testament to our farming community that whenever I tour businesses and manufacturers back home, they always mention their desire to hire individuals from farm families because of how hard they work. So, to all the farmers across Wisconsin, I salute you.

Happy National Farmers Day!
