Since taking office in 2021, the Biden-Harris administration has dismantled or overturned numerous border security policies established under the Trump administration. Unfortunately, these changes have had devastating consequences for our nation and the safety of the American people. Under this administration, there have been over 10.8 million encounters with illegal immigrants nationwide, more than three times the amount under the prior administration- and there are still four months left to be counted.
Tragically, we have seen heartbreaking stories in the news of Americans who lost their lives to individuals who should never have been allowed to enter the country. The situation becomes even more alarming when considering the large number of criminals released into our communities. Since 2021, the Biden-Harris administration has released over 425,431 convicted criminals and 222,141 individuals with pending criminal charges into our communities. Among these individuals are:
- 14,301 convicted of burglary
- 56,533 with drug convictions
- 15,811 convicted of sexual assault
- 13,099 convicted of homicide
- 2,231 convicted of assault
- 2,521 convicted of kidnapping
Much of the responsibility for this ongoing crisis falls on Vice President Harris, who was appointed as the administration’s "border czar" but has instead led efforts to dismantle key Trump-era policies, such as the Remain in Mexico policy and the use of Title 42 expulsions. The pursuit of an open-border agenda has failed to safeguard our nation and has directly contributed to the surge in illegal immigration.
The American people are increasingly frustrated with the consequences of these misguided policies. House Republicans understand that the only solution to ending this unprecedented crisis is to fully restore the effective border security measures enacted by President Trump, which delivered the most secure border in modern history. It is time to prioritize the safety and security of Americans by reinstating the policies that worked and holding this administration accountable for the crisis it has caused.
