Thursday marked the 75th anniversary of D-Day. On June 6, 1944, allied forces bravely stormed the beaches of Normandy to give the us the much-needed foothold in France that would mark the beginning of our victory in WWII.
Thanks to all of the brave soldiers for your tremendous courage!

Floor Speech About the Border |
If you are a consistent reader of my newsletter or if you follow me on social media, you'll know that I recently visited our Southern border in Texas. I believe everyone should visit the border to see the struggles our border patrol agents are facing. They are understaffed and ill-equipped due to the large numbers of people and illegal drugs are coming into our country.
This week in Washington, D.C., I made a speech on the House floor in order to educate my colleagues about the crisis at the border. It is truly amazing how few members of Congress have visited the Southern border. When you watch TV or read an article featuring a member of Congress that says "no, we don't need a wall" or "there is no crisis at the border", odds are this person has never been to the border and is repeating talking points devised by others who have not taken the time to study just how dire the situation is at the border.
Every border patrol agent I spoke with told me that their technology is out of date and their man-power is tied up processing paperwork for illegal border crossers instead of patrolling the border. The Mexican cartels, who control the border, are winning the chess game against our agents right now.

One of my most important duties as your representative in Congress is to protect servicemembers that have given so much for our freedom. That includes Wisconsin's veterans who are in need of quality health care. We have all heard too many horror stories about the sad state of the VA and our veterans receiving sub-standard care, including the unacceptable scandal at the VA in Tomah, WI.
The VA MISSION Act, passed by the Republican-led House last Congress and signed into law by President Trump, took effect this past Thursday, June 6, 2019. This new law is intended to improve the VA and deliver better care to veterans across the country.
I will always fight to improve the lives of active duty military personnel and veterans. Because, without them, we wouldn't be able to enjoy all of the freedoms this country has to offer. Thank you all for your service!

Wisconsin is America’s premier cheese state, and WI-06 is home to some of the world’s greatest cheese makers. On Tuesday, we celebrated National Cheese Day!
I had a great meeting with SourceAmerica about ways to increase job opportunities for individuals with disabilities, an issue I have long fought for and will continue to fight for in Congress.
Autism Speaks stopped by my office to meet with my staff, so I wanted to wear their pin to reaffirm my commitment to protecting our sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors affected by Autism.
Wisconsin’s agriculture industry is growing and the Wisconsin Farm Bureau stopped by my office to discuss ways to plow forward!
I attended the Bipartisan Breaking Bread Dinner in DC with my colleagues Rep. Robin Kelly (D-IL) and Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY).
