I am proud to represent a beautiful district with a variety of lakes, rivers and other natural attractions. Additionally, the Wisconsin delegation is united it our commitment to the protect the Great Lakes, and ensure our waterways thrive.

That is why I introduced an amendment to the Hydropower Policy Modernization Act with my colleague, Rep. Mark Pocan (WI-02). While the Hydropower Policy Modernization Act will streamline our country's hydropower energy production, my bipartisan amendment will make sure the threat of invasive species is taken into consideration when approving all new hydropower facilities.

This is especially beneficial to the health of Wisconsin's water as Asian carp, an invasive species, begins to migrate around our dams and smaller waterways. These Asian Carp ravage ecosystems and destroy native species and their habitats, so it’s vitally important they not be able to invade the Great Lakes.

Saturday is Veterans Day. I am sending my sincere thanks to all veterans who’ve worked to secure our country and ensure we are able to enjoy our many freedoms.

Small business owners and franchisees take a risk when opening their doors, but they do so to be able to provide a better life for themselves and their families.

I believe that small business owners and franchisee owners should have control over their own businesses, which is why I voted for the Save Local Business Act. This bipartisan legislation will keep more power with the owners of small businesses, not the corporations. Without this bill, many small business owners, including those who struggled to make ends meet when starting their businesses, would essentially become managers in their own facility.
