Reviving American Manufacturing - A Call for Competitive Tax Reform

Last week, I spoke on the House floor about the importance of a thriving manufacturing sector. To remain a great and prosperous nation, America must have a strong, competitive manufacturing base. U.S. manufacturers face increasing global competition, which is why it's critical to ensure our tax system encourages domestic manufacturing.

A thriving manufacturing sector will create jobs, strengthen families, and restore the economic backbone of our country. As Congress continues to discuss changes to our tax code, I am working to ensure my colleagues know the importance of supporting manufacturing and investing in the industries that truly build America.

Ensuring Election Integrity

During the Biden Administration, there were over 11 million attempted illegal border crossings, with millions of individuals released into the interior and an additional 2.2 million classified as known “gotaways.” In many states, illegal aliens are eligible to obtain driver’s licenses and access public benefits, creating ample opportunities to illegally register to vote in federal elections. Some jurisdictions have gone even further by allowing noncitizens to cast ballots in local elections. While federal law clearly prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal contests, the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) prevents states from requiring meaningful proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections, relying instead on a flawed honor system of self-attestation.

To close this glaring vulnerability in our electoral system, the House of Representatives passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. This critical election integrity legislation would amend the NVRA to require all individuals registering to vote in a federal election to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship and identity, regardless of whether the registration occurs at a DMV, a social services agency, or by mail.

The SAVE Act is a commonsense measure that ensures only U.S. citizens can vote in federal elections, protecting one of our most fundamental rights and restoring trust in the democratic process. It is a straightforward effort to secure our elections and uphold the rule of law at a time when election integrity is more important than ever.

Ethan Winter Appointed to U.S. Air Force Academy

I am incredibly proud to celebrate Sheboygan High School senior Ethan Winter on his prestigious appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Each year, more than 10,000 students apply to the Academy - but fewer than 1,200 are selected. The Air Force Academy will prepare Ethan for a future of service and excellence, opening doors to over 30 officer career fields.

I am excited to see him take this next step, and am honored to have played a part in his journey. Congratulations, Ethan! Your future is bright, and your community is cheering you on every step of the way.

If you would like to apply for admission to a service academy, click here. My staff and I stand ready to help you through the nomination process.
