Rapid COVID-19 Testing

At the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, President Trump acted quickly to coordinate

with states and use Congressional funding to distribute COVID-19 test kits nationwide. Today, the United States is a worldwide leader in testing, having administered nearly 90 million.

Test results, however, take several days to obtain. I believe that our focus should be on developing an in-home, low-cost, rapid COVID-19 test. The medical research community is already working to develop technology that would allow a user to test their own saliva on a paper strip indicating if the individual may be infectious with COVID-19 within as little as 15 minutes. At a price point as low as one dollar per strip, these screenings can easily be mass-produced and distributed daily.

Knowing this, I joined a bipartisan group of my colleagues in sending a letter to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Stephen Hahn requesting the FDA expedite the approval process for these rapid tests. It is critical that the FDA make the approval of these tests one of their top priorities so Americans can more effectively slow the spread on the novel coronavirus.

9/11

On Friday, we remembered and saluted the Americans whose lives were tragically cut short on 9/11/2001. We will never forget the victims who lost their lives. The families torn apart. The city rocked. The first responders who bravely and selflessly answered the call to action. The nation that grew stronger through this horrible tragedy.

Community Events

As your voice in Washington, it is my responsibility to speak with residents of Wisconsin's Sixth Congressional District frequently about the most pressing issues facing our community.

While the COVID-19 outbreak has limited the number of in-person events, I have been working twice as hard to stay available to you through my office line (920-907-0624), email, telephone town hall meetings and virtual events.

Now, as in-person events are beginning to be rescheduled, I will do my best to be out in the community and available to you. If you know of a community event that I should attend, please let me know by clicking here or on the picture below.
