Question of the week
Hearing from Wisconsin residents when it comes to issues like education is important.

Pell grants, which are subsidized by tax dollars and administered by the federal government, are given to low-income students to attend college. What do you think should be done about this program, if anything?

Answer the question of the week here.

Benghazi
On May 8, 2014, the House voted to establish the House Select Committee on Benghazi in order to conduct a full investigation into the events surrounding the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya. This terrorist attack killed 4 Americans including Ambassador Chris Stevens on September 11, 2012.

This week, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before the committee. This terrorist attack happened on her watch, and it’s the responsibility of Congress to conduct this investigation. This is about finding the truth about what happened before, during, and after the terrorist attack that killed four Americans, and doing everything possible to prevent this from ever happening again.

SOAR Act
On Wednesday, the House voted to reauthorize the Scholarships for Opportunity and Results Act (SOAR) through September 30, 2021. This will give students and parents in the District of Columbia more choices when it comes to their education. This is a good bill, and like I’ve always said, our communities do better when parents and students can choose which school is best for them. Taking power away from Washington and putting it in the hands of local officials and school administrators is always best. I spoke on the House floor this week advocating for this important bill.
