A Win for Israel
Israel is America’s strongest, most stable ally in the Middle East. This week, President Trump announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, which is an incredibly important step in recognizing its legitimacy.

Congress voted in 1995 to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital and to move the U.S. embassy there from Tel-Aviv. The Jerusalem Embassy Act passed the Senate (93-5) and the House (374-37), becoming law in 1995. Until now, Presidents have used a national-security waiver allowed for in the bill to delay moving the embassy.

I applaud this decision because I believe that Israel should not be the only nation that’s denied placement of embassies in its capital.

Pearl Harbor: A Day of Remembrance
December 7 is a date that will live in infamy. We remember the brave souls who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor, and all the men and women who served our country so honorably as the U.S. entered WWII.

The Taylor Force Act
This week, the House unanimously passed the Taylor Force Act to cut assistance that directly benefits the Palestinian Authority. American funds should not be used to provide payments to convicted terrorists who have committed acts of terrorism against Israelis and Americans.

Human rights, especially those of religious minorities and children, is an important issue to me. The United States and the rest of the world must work to encourage freedom and civil liberties across the globe. That is why I proudly supported this bipartisan bill.

The Taylor Force Act is named for U.S. Army veteran Taylor Force, who was murdered by a Palestinian terrorist in Jaffa, Israel in March 2016.

From Our Nation's Capitol
I am truly blessed to have such a great and loving family. This week, my sister, Patty, visited me in Washington. We attended a Christmas party for members of Congress hosted at the White House.

I was also happy to meet with Wisconsin's members of Ducks Unlimited. We discussed the farm bill and issues relating to wildlife conservation.
