This week marks the start of the 115th Congress. In two weeks, President-elect Trump will officially be inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States, cementing the Republican majority.
Our first priority will be repealing and replacing Obamacare. The so-called Affordable Care Act has been anything but affordable. Americans are suffering from rising healthcare costs and fewer insurance options.
The new system must focus on giving patients the tools to make their health care more affordable, productive and beneficial. One such tool is a Health Savings Account (HSA), or a personal medical savings account for those enrolled in high-deductible health plans. HSAs can help reduce financial stress on patients if a medical emergency were to arise.
The federal government can also provide businesses with more freedom and opportunities to implement their own healthcare plan reforms.
Overall, the Republican majority will move our nation's healthcare system in a direction that allows patients and doctors - not government bureaucrats - to make important health care decisions. |
U.N. Anti-Israel Resolution |
Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution calling for the repeal of the U.N.'s anti-Israel resolution that was passed in December.
I previously condemned the Obama Administration's decision not to veto the U.N. resolution and I was proud to co-sponsor this House resolution. By passing the House resolution, Republicans and Democrats together sent a message to the Obama Administration that it was wrong to turn America's back on our longtime friend and ally, Israel. |
