Victory for the Pro-Life Movement |
Title X is a federal grant program that offers funding to states and nongovernmental organizations for family planning and related services. Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country, started receiving Title X funding in 1970. In 2018, Planned Parenthood received $563.8 million taxpayer dollars and performed 332,757 abortion procedures.
On June 20, 2019, the Trump Administration enacted a rule to stop the public funding of abortions. This week, that rule prompted Planned Parenthood to reject further Title X funds. This demonstrates the real priorities of Planned Parenthood because if they were truly a women's health organization, they would have chosen to forego prioritization of abortions and focused on helping women. Instead, they have taken a hard-line stance against women's health and the pro-life movement.
Having said that, the federal defunding of Planned Parenthood is a great victory for the pro-life movement. I am pleased that your taxpayer dollars will be spared from funding abortion giants such as Planned Parenthood that pay no respect to the sanctity of human life. Going forward, it is vital that we continue to safeguard the rights of each and every American, including our unborn children. |
Each year, the United States welcomes immigrants from all over the world through naturalization ceremonies. We naturalize roughly 700,000 new citizens each year, which is just shy of the amount naturalized by the entire European Union. This week, I was honored to witness a naturalization ceremony in Milwaukee. I was happy to speak with our newest U.S. citizens.
The Immigration and Nationality Act details the requirements an individual must fulfill to be eligible for U.S. citizenship. To be eligible for naturalization, an individual must lawfully reside in the U.S. for at least five years, be of good moral character and have a thorough understanding of our country. That is why I am proud of each individual that completed the journey to become an official U.S. citizen.
I am pleased that we are now united by our fundamental American values, such as freedom, justice and equal opportunity. Wisconsin welcomes you with open arms!

One of the most important parts of my job is to visit the Sixth District to talk to folks like you about the day's most important issues. If you know of a community event that I should attend, such as a brat fry, church fundraiser, firemen's picnic or annual celebration, please let me know by clicking here.

Glad I had the opportunity to meet with the HME Home Medical Group and discuss H.R. 2771, which I recently co-sponsored. We must strive to improve the quality of life for Wisconsinites by ensuring that those with disabilities and chronic conditions have affordable access to durable medical equipment, such as oxygen ventilators and wheelchairs.
The Metal Ware Corporation in Two Rivers manufactures many of our domestic consumer goods, including Nesco and American Harvest. I'm thankful for a great visit and discussion about the impact of tariffs.
President Ronald Reagan founded National Senior Citizens Day in 1988. Today, we continue this celebration to honor and thank our senior citizens who have greatly contributed to our country and community.
Thanks to the Mid-Morning Kiwanis Club of Oshkosh for a great conversation on the issues that matter most to Wisconsin's Sixth District, such as immigration and our youth.
I had the pleasure of speaking with the Manitowoc-Sunrise Rotary Club on the state of affairs in Washington and skills-based education training. Together, we can be people of action to improve the education system in America and our great state of Wisconsin.
