#WIWorking
A popular phrase, or "hashtag", on social media is #WIWorking. It has been organically gaining popularity because our economy is booming, jobs are being created and Wisconsin is working again. Here are four examples of our healthy economy, just from the past few weeks!
  • The unemployment rate in Wisconsin plummeted to a record 2.9 percent- the lowest EVER.
  • Sargento just announced that they are expanding their facility in Kiel.
  • Mercury Marine broke ground on their new facility this week in Fond du Lac.
  • Wisconsin companies have been investing in their employees with bonuses and investments in employee education, childcare and retirement plans thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
It's a great time to be living in Wisconsin. Let's make sure our economy continues to grow so we can leave our children and grandchildren a fruitful and prosperous state.

Around the Sixth District
I have the honor and privilege of travelling the beautiful Sixth District to visit residents and learn about what issues are important to them. This week:

I had a very productive conversation about senior housing at the Berlin Senior Village.

Great conversation about the skills enhancement program in Wautoma. This program helps workers advance their skills in the workplace.

I had the privilege of speaking with the National Community Action Foundation Executive Director, David Bradley, about ways we can work together to fight poverty.

Central Wisconsin Community Action Council gave me an update on Community Services Block Grants.

Nothing like a good cup of coffee to start the Day! Thanks to Annie's Fountain City Cafe for the coffee and insight on the issues affecting your business.

ICYMI: School Safety is a Priority
There is no reason that any child, parent or community should have to go through anything like what happened in the recent tragedies in Parkland, FL and St. Mary's County, MD.

That is why I have introduced two bills that will give children, parents, teaches, faculty and law enforcement the resources they need to make sure their campus' are safe and secure.

The Student and Teacher Safety Act would allow schools more flexibility with existing federal funds to make physical safety improvements to campus facilities, support local education programs aimed at improving school safety and security and assist in coordination between schools and local law enforcement to identify threats.

The Make Schools Safe Again Act already has 13 cosposors and would prohibit the Secretary of Education or the Attorney General from authorizing agreements between schools and law enforcement agencies to encourage the non-reporting of criminal activity of students, a precedent set forth by the Obama administration.
