United States, Mexico, Canada
The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) is is a new trade agreement, negotiated by President Trump, that will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The USMCA has already been ratified by Mexico and Canada, but has not yet been adopted by the United States Congress.

NAFTA was enacted in 1994, successfully bringing the United States, Mexico and Canada closer together and promoting more free trade. Since that time, however, there have been many market changes, technological advancements and industries excluded from the agreement.

The USMCA will modernize our trade agreements and give our economy a welcomed boost. One of the biggest provisions for the country, and specifically Wisconsin, pertains to the dairy industry. The USMCA will triple the amount of milk we are able to export to Canada. This is a provision that I championed because Wisconsin's hard-working dairy farmers deserve a better deal than the one currently in place. As with the dairy industry, the USMCA will also benefit the manufacturing industry by taking new technology into account and incentivizing fair wages for workers.

Wisconsin Education
Each year, the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators comes out to Washington, D.C. to meet with our state's Congressional delegation about the needs of our schools. This year, they hosted a breakfast roundtable with school district superintendents to discuss what's working and what needs improvement in our education system. I was happy to speak to the group about my work in Washington through my position on the House Education and Labor Committee.

Last Congress, under Republican leadership, we passed my bill intended to combat youth opioid abuse as well as a career and technical education modernization bill that was eventually signed into law. While the committee is currently under Democrat leadership, who have different, more free-spending ideas, I have a very good relationship with the current Chairman, Bobby Scott (D-VA), and believe that we can still work together to get meaningful education reforms through our committee.

Weekly Roundup

It was a pleasure to welcome the Milwaukee County Intergovernmental Co-op Council to River Hills for a discussion on the best ways the federal government can help Wisconsin thrive.

It was a pleasure to speak with the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) about the current state of local Wisconsin insurance companies and what Congress can do to cut burdensome red tape.

Thanks to all of the lineworkers who risk life and limb to power our communities!

This week, the Wall Street Journal released the hourly earning increases for American workers during President Trump's first 29 months in office against President Obama's final 48 months. It is clear that our commonsense GOP policies, including tax reform, are working!

Often overlooked, interns play a vital role in every Congressional office. That’s why we in the House Republican Conference recognized their contributions this week. Big thanks to my interns, Abbey and Kevin. Your great work has not gone unnoticed!
