The Big Push Against Opioids
Opioid abuse has been a problem in America for years now. While I still believe that it is an under-publicized problem, I am happy to see the press giving it more attention. Overdose deaths have increased 700 percent from 2013 to 2016. In Wisconsin, the number of overdose deaths due to opioids is more than 50 percent higher than the number of car crash deaths.

This week, Congress took a huge step in the fight against opioid abuse by passing several bills to combat the problem.

I am proud to say that of the three bills I have introduced to address this problem, one passed the House this week. The Improving the Federal Response to Families Impacted by Substance Use Disorder Act would create a federal inter-agency task force to coordinate with local communities on best practices and new ways to combat the growing opioid abuse epidemic. This bill passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support by a vote of 409-8.

Fighting for Individual with Disabilities
Individuals with disabilities deserve a voice in Washington. That is why I was happy to meet with A-Team Wisconsin as well as the State Use Programs Association (SUPRA) about my bill to help these individuals find work and the dignity of that comes with it.

Weekly Roundup
For too long, Planned Parenthood has enabled sexual abuse by providing abortions to underage girls without reporting the abuse to police. I, along with 56 colleagues, am taking a stand against this practice. To read more, please click here.
