Yesterday the House passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the first tax reform bill since 1986. This bill stops jobs from moving overseas, encourages small businesses to invest in their employees and puts more of your hard-earned money back in your pocket.
While this tax plan isn’t perfect yet – I hope that when the House and Senate tax bills are reconciled, the medical expense deductions, which so many individuals in dire situations depend on, are restored – it does benefit the middle class and simplifies the tax process for all Americans.
For many years, I was a tax preparer and I know firsthand how complicated and convoluted our current tax code is. This reform is sorely-needed, and will lead to more jobs and economic growth in the Sixth District and across the U.S.
