Affordable Care Act Not So Affordable

Since President Obama’s so-called Affordable Care Act was forced through Congress and signed into law in March of 2010, it’s been anything but affordable.

Premiums continue to rise as co-ops fail, insurers pull out because they’re losing too much money and costumers have to continually switch plans and providers to avoid paying more. In Wisconsin, we have insurance providers who are requesting upwards of 45 percent in rate increases for next year because of Obamacare. It’s out of control.

Today, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a hearing on rising Obamacare premiums. I questioned federal officials about why premiums keep rising year after year when President Obama promised they would decrease under his healthcare law.

Wisconsinites deserve better than inferior healthcare plans at outrageous costs. I will keep demanding answers from the Obama administration and federal officials until healthcare costs go down.
