National Manufacturing Day |
Today is National Manufacturing Day, which is an opportunity to recognize the importance of the manufacturing sector in Wisconsin and across our country.
In the Sixth District, nearly 80,000 of our citizens wake up and go to work at factories and manufacturing facilities – more than almost any other place in the country.
Wisconsin’s manufacturing industry keeps our state at the forefront of job creation and innovation. To all those who work in manufacturing, I hope you have a wonderful National Manufacturing Day as you work hard to continue to grow the economy of Wisconsin.

I keep my offices open for a number of federal holidays because it's simply not fair that your government isn’t working while hundreds of thousands of folks in the Sixth District are getting up and heading into work.
Both my D.C. and Fond du Lac offices will be open on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 9. If you would like to contact my D.C. or Fond du Lac offices on Monday, please call 202-225-2476 (Washington, D.C.) or 920-907-0624 (Fond du Lac). |
Protecting Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortion |
On Tuesday, I voted in favor of a bill that makes elective abortions on unborn babies 20 weeks post-fertilization or older illegal, except in cases of rape or incest, or to protect the life of the mother. I did so because science has increasingly confirmed that unborn babies can feel pain at that age.
In Wisconsin, Gov. Scott Walker signed a similar bill into law in 2015. Wisconsin’s Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act prohibits abortions of unborn children after 20 weeks post-fertilization.

Meeting with Dr. Rajamannan |
My office has been helping Sheboygan's Dr. Nalini Rajamannan for almost a year as she seeks answers from the Food and Drug Administration agout faulty heart valves. Earlier this week, I was finally able to meet her in-person when she stopped by my D.C. office to discuss the case.
