A Day of Solemn Remembrance

Today, we remember and salute the Americans whose lives were tragically cut short on September 11, 2001. We will never forget the victims who lost their lives. The families torn apart. The city rocked. The first responders who bravely and selflessly answered the call to action. The nation that grew stronger through this horrible tragedy.

To honor those we lost and thank those who risked everything to save their fellow Americans, I cosponsored a bipartisan resolution to recognize September 11 as a day of solemn remembrance. As Americans, we must express sympathy to the families and loved ones of those we lost and honor the heroism of those who risked their lives.

Service Academy Nominations

One of the best parts of my job is nominating young people from Wisconsin's 6th District for our country's military academies. I wish all applicants the best of luck as they seek to attend one of the U.S. service academies and serve our country.

As you may know, Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

The deadline to apply for a service academy nomination through my office is Friday, October 8, 2021. The application can be found online by clicking here or the picture below.

Interested students can also join the Wisconsin Congressional Delegation for Academy Day 2021, which is an event that will be hosted at the Experimental Aircraft Association on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., located at 3000 Poberezny Road, Oshkosh WI 54902.

Weekly Roundup

Touring and interacting with the workers of American Excelsior was truly a pleasure. This Sheboygan manufacturer has provided foams, fibers, and erosion control to Wisconsinites for over 100 years. Thanks for providing steady jobs to Wisconsin manufacturers and keeping our economy strong!

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to drop off this commendation to Horicon Bank celebrating its 125th anniversary. Congratulations again on the milestone!

Kurtz Ersa is another example of Wisconsin's strong manufacturing industry. It was great to see the employees in Plymouth this week!
