This past Tuesday, President Trump delivered his State of the Union address to Congress. The President did an outstanding job detailing the many achievements he and his administration have accomplished over the past three years.

We have successfully given ten million Americans a hand-up by lifting them from the straits of the welfare system.

After losing 60,000 factories under previous administrations, we have gained 12,000 factories in the United States, making our economy stronger and allowing unemployment to reach record-lows.

President Trump urged Congress to support his plan to promote vocational and technical education across our nation, which is key to solving Wisconsin’s skilled labor shortage and an initiative that I have championed for many years.

Regarding healthcare, President Trump announced that last year the cost of prescription drug prices went down for the first time in 51 years. He also urged Congress to pass common sense, bipartisan legislation that would dramatically lower prescription drug prices even further.

President Trump also shared that while Wisconsin is among the states hit hardest by the opioid epidemic, opioid deaths in Wisconsin decreased ten percent last year and are expected to decline even further.

When speaking about one of his signature issues, which is also one of my top priorities and an issue that is crucial to the very fabric of our country, President Trump highlighted the progress at our Southern border. Since May 2019, illegal border crossings have consistently declined, dropping by 75 percent. Additionally, in the past three years, our brave Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have arrested more than 5,000 vicious human traffickers.

President Trump touched on ways he has defended the sanctity of life, saying "Whether we are Republican, Democrat or Independent, surely we must all agree that every human life is a sacred gift from God!".

We have a Constitutional right to religious freedom and President Trump emphasized his commitment to protecting this right and ensuring that every individual is given the chance to practice their religion without fear or threats of violence.

Whatever your political affiliation may be, there's no denying that President Trump’s accomplishments over the past three years have made our country stronger. His State of the Union address showed the renewed strength of our country and should be a uniting force for all Americans. I look forward to building on the success we’ve achieved both in Wisconsin and the entire country.

If you are a frequent reader of my newsletter, you may remember that I've mentioned several times over the past year that since Democrats have taken control of Congress, they have introduced many bills with nice sounding titles, but precarious content.

The Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act is one of those bills. Under this bill, employers would be required to hand over the telephone number, the email and the home address of each of their employees to the unions. I believe in the importance of protecting people’s privacy. To say that unions have the right to know every employee’s home address, and turn it over to who knows how many functionaries, I find very offensive. I would find it very unnerving if an employee came home one night to find someone waiting there for them.

It's hard for me to believe that the Democratic party, who purport to be in favor of protecting working Americans, in particular, working women, would champion a bill that amounts to the forced turnover of employees’ private information.

There are two more provisions in this bill that I find offensive. The first pertains to surprise elections. This bill will greatly reduce workers ability to be informed on elections by drastically reducing the amount of time between when an election is announced and when ballots are cast. The second, is the unnecessary and burdensome changes to the joint employer rule. These changes would put miles of red tape on small business franchisees that would devastate the industry.

I care deeply about American workers and wish to help them succeed by eliminating unnecessary restraints and burdens. This bill would not only hamper businesses ability to grow, but also expose individuals' personal information that they may not be willing to share. As your Representative, I will continue the fight to protect the rights of workers in Wisconsin's Sixth District and across our nation.

In 2010, Congress first enacted the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI). The GLRI is a vital program that enhances the water quality of our Great Lakes, promotes habitat restoration and protects Wisconsin’s Great Lakes from invasive species.

The Great Lakes are an economic driver that support jobs, commerce, agriculture, transportation and tourism for millions of people in Wisconsin and across the Midwest. I am proud to represent a district that includes 80 miles of the Lake Michigan shoreline, the fifth largest lake in the world. It is our duty to make sure this valuable part of our country stays clean and vibrant, especially with the growing threat of Asian Carp reaching the Great Lakes.

That's why I am a proud cosponsor of H.R. 4031, Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Act. This bipartisan bill reauthorizes funding for the GLRI through Fiscal Year 2026 and provides millions of dollars for Wisconsin toward keeping Lake Michigan clean. This week, I am pleased to have voted for H.R. 4031, which passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support.
