Honoring Trooper Trevor J. Casper

Last week, I had the honor of taking part in a moving ceremony to dedicate the Kiel Post Office in memory of Wisconsin State Trooper Trevor J. Casper.

Trooper Casper, a native of Kiel, was just 21 years old when he was tragically killed on his very first solo shift in 2015. His incredible bravery, dedication, and sacrifice made him the youngest officer in Wisconsin history to give his life in the line of duty.

To ensure his legacy endures, I proudly introduced legislation to rename the Kiel Post Office in his honor, which received bipartisan support from the entire Wisconsin Congressional delegation. At the ceremony, I was grateful to deliver remarks celebrating Trooper Casper’s courage and honoring the profound impact he made on our community.

The event brought together members of the community, local leaders, and law enforcement, including District Attorney Eric Toney and retired Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Anthony Burrell, both of whom gave powerful and heartfelt remarks.

This renaming is a permanent reminder of Trooper Casper’s sacrifice and a way for future generations to remember the hero who called Wisconsin's Sixth District home. I'm proud to honor his memory, and I am grateful to everyone who came together to pay tribute to a life defined by service and honor.

Business Spotlight: Fox River Industries

This week, I had the chance to visit Fox River Industries in Green Lake County, and I left inspired by the work they do every single day.

Fox River Industries provides opportunities and support for people with developmental disabilities, helping them live meaningful lives and contribute to their communities in incredible ways. Their work for individuals with disabilities is invaluable, providing them with much more than simply a paycheck, but a supporting community and the dignity that comes from having a job. What stood out most to me was how much they truly care about the people they serve. It’s clear this is more than just a job for their team.

Their mission also extends to individuals with chronic mental illness, W-2 participants, and local juveniles. With a dedicated staff, they’re able to cover program areas that make a significant impact in people’s lives.

I also stopped by Markesan, where volunteers were preparing meals for seniors. Watching people come together to simply help others was a powerful reminder of what makes Wisconsin’s Sixth District such a special place.

Weekly Roundup

I was proud to join the Wisconsin delegation in urging FEMA to act swiftly in response to the severe flooding devastating communities across our state. We stand united in fighting for relief and support for hardworking Wisconsinites.

I had a great meeting with Fortifi Bank, who serve Wisconsinites with pride across the state. We discussed how my work in Congress impacts community banks. I’ll always be a strong advocate for our local lenders who keep families and small businesses thriving.

I toured the Silver Creek Estuary, one of Green Lake’s two main inflows, with the Green Lake Association. We had a great discussion about protecting our waters and expanding agricultural opportunities. The Big Beautiful Bill delivers major wins by investing in ag innovation and cutting burdensome regulations, helping protect critical industries and our natural resources.

I had a fantastic time at the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce Cookout in Thiensville Village Park. There was great food, great conversations, and a chance to connect with so many friendly faces and local businesses like Health in Balance Physical Therapy, Fitness, and Wellness, and Aire Serv of North Shore. It is always a pleasure to celebrate our community together!
