My Sheboygan Falls meeting will be held outdoors and the number of attendees will not be limited. Each town hall will follow recommendations on social distancing and sanitizing provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as Wisconsin’s face covering guidelines.

If you are interested in attending, I recommend following these guidelines:

  • Bring and wear a facemask that adequately covers the mouth and nose
  • Carry extra hand sanitizer
  • Bring a pen to sign in if you do not wish to use the pens provided
    • Pens provided will be sanitized after use
  • Be mindful of other attendees and stay at least six feet apart
  • Bring gloves if you plan to touch surfaces in or around the venue
  • Check your temperature before deciding to attend

Attendees are not limited to these guidelines and should take all other necessary precautions in order to safely attend the meeting.

My office will also be providing the following at each venue:

  • Hand sanitizer
  • Face masks
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Gloves

I hope to see you on Monday!

Oversight Committee Hearing on Citizenship

On July 21, 2020, President Trump issued a memorandum regarding the 2020 Census, ensuring that U.S. citizens will be better represented in Congress. He stated that following the 2020 census, when we have a clear picture of how many people live in each state and new Congressional districts are being drawn, the districts will be based on how many U.S. citizens and legal residents live in each area. This means that temporary business travelers, tourists, those in the U.S. on a temporary basis and illegal immigrants will not be in the same category as U.S. citizens when determining Congressional districts. You can read more about the memorandum here.

I applaud President Trump for putting American citizens first.

This week, the House Committee on Oversight and Reform held a hearing to discuss this, and other details of the 2020 census.

Honoring Bernell Trammell

This section is dedicated to the memory of Bernell Trammell.

Bernell was one of 10 children of Dolores Jackson, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended Milwaukee Lincoln High School. He followed the steps of his grandfather, Cecil Bellinger, who was one of the first African-American businessmen in Milwaukee, when he founded eXpressions Journal Publications. He was well-read and liked to read the books of Abraham Lincoln and Malcolm X. He was not afraid to speak the truth. He liked to display signs with bible verses and signs supporting President Donald Trump. He was killed while holding his sign supporting President Trump earlier this month.

Authorities say that his death may be politically motivated and are investigating the circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Trammell's family and friends.

Weekly Roundup

Monday was Korean War Veterans Day and this year marks the 70th anniversary of the start of the War. Thank you to the brave soldiers who valiantly fought the spread of communism, ensuring freedom and prosperity for millions in the Republic of Korea.

Some cities are already cutting funding for police departments amid a rise in murders. I want you to know that I will vehemently oppose any proposal that will keep law enforcement from doing their job.
