When Republicans regained the majority in the 118th Congress, we committed to restoring the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability to its rightful purpose: exposing waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement within the federal government, while holding the Biden-Harris Administration accountable. We have delivered on that promise.
This week, the Committee released a report outlining our work this Congress, spotlighting the efforts of the Subcommittee I chair on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs.
President Biden and his ‘border czar’, Vice President Harris, have created the worst border crisis in American history by knowingly dismantling the very tools and policies that deter illegal immigration. This border crisis is not without cost. Americans have been murdered, raped, burglarized, and violently assaulted by illegal aliens who should not be free to roam our country. Foreign gangs are infiltrating our communities and fentanyl pouring across the southern border is killing hundreds of thousands of Americans. The massive influx of illegal aliens is burdening our healthcare, justice, education, and social service systems – placing American taxpayers on the hook as they continue to suffer from skyrocketing inflation due to this Administration’s spending binge.
The work of the House Oversight Committee, under Chairman James Comer, and the efforts of my Subcommittee, have brought critical issues to light. Our investigations reveal the profound consequences of the Biden-Harris administration's border policies, and the threats posed to American safety, sovereignty, and security. From the human toll of unchecked illegal immigration to the infiltration of foreign threats, our focus remains on holding the administration accountable and ensuring policies that protect our communities and reinforce the rule of law.
For a more in-depth look at our accomplishments, I encourage you to review the report. Specific information about my Subcommittee can be found on pages 14–19 of the report.
