Around the 6th District:
This week I had the privilege to present military awards to Eugene Burg from St. Cloud on behalf of his deceased uncle, SSG Herman Berg. SSG Burg served in WWll as part of the 169th infantry, 43rd infantry division, and was killed on January 26, 1945 in the Philippine Islands. Unfortunately, SSG Burg’s military records were burned in the National Personnel Records Center fire on July 12, 1973. My office helped Eugene track down SSG Burg’s military records. SSG Burg received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star, and I was glad to present Eugene with award certificates and provide some closure to his family.

Papal Visit:
Pope Francis will be addressing a joint session of Congress on September 24, 2015.
