Supporting Wisconsin’s Workforce with the Department of Labor

This week, I had the honor of welcoming Department of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer to Wisconsin’s Sixth District for a tour of the Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center in Mequon, alongside my colleague Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI).

We had the chance to meet the hardworking men and women driving Wisconsin’s workforce forward. The facility is a state-of-the-art project using advanced technology to support cutting-edge training and strengthen our healthcare infrastructure.

One thing was loud and clear from the workers on the ground: there’s a real shortage of skilled labor, and it’s putting pressure on job sites across the region.

Thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill, we’re working to close that gap by expanding support for local workforce development and training programs, part of our mission to Make America Skilled Again.

I look forward to continuing to partner with Secretary Chavez-DeRemer on delivering common-sense solutions for Wisconsin’s workers.

Wisconsin Wins: The One Big Beautiful Bill

There’s been a lot of noise and misinformation surrounding the One Big Beautiful Bill, but here’s the truth: it’s a major win for Wisconsin families and workers.

Each week, I’ll break down how the bill is delivering real results.

The first win: Your Paycheck.

📈 According to the Council of Economic Advisers, the OBBB is projected to raise wages in Wisconsin by $3,500–$6,400 over the next four years (inflation-adjusted).

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A typical family with two children could see up to $10,100 in increased take-home pay compared to if the bill hadn’t passed.

That’s money back in your pocket, and more opportunity for everyone.

Constituent Service Success: Helping You Cut Through the Red Tape

My office is always ready to assist the people of Wisconsin’s Sixth District, and we’ve got a team of dedicated caseworkers ready to act fast.

Here’s a recent win:

A constituent reached out after months of waiting for her IRS tax refund. Despite submitting her paperwork on time, she hit a wall and wasn’t getting any answers.

That’s when she called us.

Our casework team jumped into action, contacted the IRS, and got her case moving. Within days, the IRS responded and confirmed that her refund would be issued in a few weeks.

✅ Problem solved. If you’re hitting a dead end with a federal agency, let us help.

I recently had the privilege of touring Lakeside Plastics in Oshkosh - a proud, family-owned business operating since 1972. It was incredible to get a behind-the-scenes look at how they deliver top-tier products across three key industries: traffic safety, screen printing inks, and custom plastisol formulations.

I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with the Rotary Club of Oshkosh about the key legislation and issues I’ve been working on in Washington. Thank you to everyone who showed up, asked questions, and shared your perspective. I appreciate the opportunity to connect with the community and engage in impactful conversations.

I had an incredible time at the Wild Rose Days Party last weekend. The event was packed with exciting activities, and the highlight was a huge parade open to everyone. This year's theme, “Kind Hearts,”' was truly evident as various floats from local community groups came together in a display of unity and support. It was inspiring to witness, and I’m happy I could be there!

I was honored to celebrate 175 years of faith, service, and community at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. From powerful ceremonies to decades of meaningful outreach, their impact on the community is undeniable. It was a privilege to explore the historic displays and reflect on the remarkable legacy of both the church and its school.

I had an incredible time at the Sheboygan Jaycees Brat Days! This event celebrates the rich history of the iconic Wisconsin bratwurst while raising funds for a ton of local charities. Since its start in 1953, this beloved tradition has brought the community together year after year - and I’m grateful to have been part of this year’s celebration.
