Calling For Transparency from the Biden Family
The American justice system is built on the basic principle that all citizens are equal in the eyes of the law. Judgement should be handed down on the basis of one's criminal behavior and the severity of their offenses.
The House Oversight Committee convened this week to hear testimony from two IRS criminal investigators who blew the whistle following alleged foul play from key actors in our justice system – U.S. district attorneys. After they determined federal prosecutors were impeding upon their investigation by refusing to follow the rule of law, these IRS agents felt obliged to speak out. They were investigating the President's son, Hunter Biden, and his evasion of taxes on $8.3 million in income.
During the hearing, we learned more about the disturbing allegations of the Biden family’s apparent influence peddling scheme and the subsequent politically-friendly behavior of the Department of Justice (DOJ) toward the Bidens. The IRS whistleblowers that came before our Committee were tasked with investigating Hunter Biden, but testified that their investigation was impeded. Specifically, the agents were prevented from asking questions about Joe Biden, despite the fact that the IRS was in possession of evidence that he was involved with his son’s foreign business dealings. Further, the DOJ had a cozy relationship with Hunter Biden’s attorneys that resulted in a probation-only plea deal for their high-profile client rather than charging him with felonies.
Politically-appointed U.S. Attorneys making decisions to benefit the subject of an investigation – Hunter Biden – is wrong and can easily be construed as evidence of a two-tiered system of justice depending on who you are and who you are connected to. This politicization of the Justice Department is a stain on our Republic, and I applaud the whistleblowers for coming forward. Members of the Biden family receiving significant sums of money from foreign governments raises serious questions, and the House Oversight Committee will continue to investigate communications between the Biden family and foreign entities, including Chinese, Ukrainian, and Romanian individuals, because the American people deserve transparency.

Fighting for Student Loan Responsibility
Last week, President Biden unveiled plans to sidestep the Supreme Court and "cancel" an estimated $39 billion in federal student loan debt. Under the Biden Administration, I have been fighting for student loan responsibility because, legal questions aside, this pattern of encouraging student debt cancellation is insulting to every American who paid their loans or never attended college.
In response to his most recent attempt to forgive outstanding student loans, I introduced two bills to address the student loan problem in a responsible way — without shifting the burden to hard-working taxpayers.
My legislation, the Protecting Taxpayers from Student Loan Bailouts Act, will defend the American people against the Biden Administration’s attempts to transfer the burden of student loan debt to the taxpayers. This bill requires that the Department of Education review the fiscal impact of any future plans to forgive student loan debt to ensure costs to the federal government do not increase and result in taxpayers footing the bill.
The Informed Student Borrowing Act will educate students of the whole financial picture, in the short- and long-term, throughout the student loan decision-making process. The goal of this bill is to help students make the right borrowing choices to best serve their financial and academic future.
These two bills complement each other by attacking the crisis of student loan debt from two angles — prohibiting the Biden Administration from forgiving student loans with taxpayer funds and providing students with more resources to understand the long-term effects of taking on too much student loan debt.
The amount of student loan debt in this country is an embarrassment to our entire educational system. My bills help shield Americans’ pocketbooks against debt forgiveness schemes like those of President Biden that will spark inflation, add to our national debt, and tank our economy, all without Congressional approval.
It was an honor to be presented with the Award for Conservative Achievement by CPAC for upholding conservative principles through my voting record in Congress.
It was great to sit down with Wisconsin energy producers from American Public Power Association and WPPI Energy this week to discuss working together to maintain affordable power utilities for all communities across the country.
I was happy to speak with the Wisconsin Corn Growers about the management of corn production and how we can expand growth of our state's corn.
