In December 2024 during the lame duck period, the Biden Administration issued a rule that could drastically increase the number of fines the IRS levies against American taxpayers. Under this new rule, any IRS agent with supervisory authority could approve these fines. Think of it like this, if your child wanted a candy bar from the grocery store, under this new rule, they wouldn't have to ask for your permission, they could ask any other parent in the store for permission.
On Thursday, I introduced legislation that will overturn this rule and return us to a system where only direct supervisors have this authority. I am proud to share that this bill is supported by Americans for Tax Reform, the National Taxpayers Union, and the Taxpayers Protection Alliance, and is cosponsored by Congressmen Tom McClintock (R-CA) and Greg Steube (R-FL).
