Protecting Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities

This week, I applauded the Department of Labor’s decision to withdraw its proposed rule to phase out the use of 14(c) certificates, an action that would have jeopardized meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and threatened the future of Community Rehabilitation Providers (CRPs) nationwide.

Back in December, the Department announced its intent to eliminate 14(c) certificates, dealing a devastating blow to families and individuals who rely on these programs for steady, fulfilling employment. In response, I introduced the Continuing Opportunities for People with Disabilities Act to stand up for the thousands of Americans whose jobs were at risk.

I’m grateful to Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer and the Department of Labor for reversing this harmful proposal. Their decision protects the right of individuals with disabilities to choose the type of employment that best meets their needs. The pride and sense of purpose that comes with this work is deeply inspiring, and it deserves our full support.

I was proud to lead the fight against this misguided proposal, and I remain committed to preserving and expanding opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. After years of reckless policies under the Biden Administration, this is a welcome step toward restoring dignity, choice, and stability for some of the most hardworking individuals in our country.

Taking Action on Border Security: My Interview with NTD News

On Tuesday, I joined Steve Lance on NTD News to discuss the future of reconciliation bills and our efforts to rein in government spending. The recently passed Big Beautiful Bill includes strong provisions to secure our border and restore law and order, two areas where President Trump has shown strong leadership following the chaos of the Biden Administration.

We also discussed the crisis unfolding in Los Angeles, where lawlessness has taken hold. President Trump is stepping in to enforce the law and protect our communities. Local officials have failed their constituents by choosing politics over safety, and it's time for accountability.

In the Oversight Committee, I questioned mayors from sanctuary cities to make it clear that no one is above the law. Illegal immigration is one of the greatest challenges we face, and we must know who is entering our country. I appreciated the opportunity to speak with Steve about these important issues.

The Truth on the Big Beautiful Bill: My Interview on Between the Lines

I also joined Between the Lines with Greg Stensland to talk about the Big Beautiful Bill and what it means for Wisconsinites and Americans across the country.

We passed this bill to prevent devastating tax hikes and to fund critical border enforcement efforts. I also addressed some of the false claims being spread about Medicaid and other government programs. Rest assured, vulnerable Americans will continue to receive the benefits they rely on.

While this bill makes real progress, we must keep fighting to remove wasteful programs like the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC). This initiative enriches developers while doing little to help the low-income families it claims to serve.

It was great being on the show and having an honest conversation about the issues that matter to working families in Wisconsin and across the country.
