Before visiting a foreign country, you should make sure all your travel documents are in order, including your U.S. passport. The U.S. Passport Agency encourages applicants to apply at least 6 months in advance. Please note, passports are valid for 10 years for those age 16 and over, and only 5 years for children under age 16.
