Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) today released the following statement about last night’s announcement by President Trump reversing an Obama administration policy on transgender bathrooms in schools:

“I applaud President Trump for upholding states’ rights and reversing a federal policy put in place by the Obama administration forcing all schools to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of their choosing.

“This was one of the more ridiculous actions taken by President Obama. It showed that in a time of stagnating economic growth President Obama was more obsessed with fringe issues. 

“This action by President Trump will put the decision-making process back where it belongs – in the hands of our states and schools.  Most importantly, we’re keeping our students safe and ensuring their privacy.”
