(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Glenn Grothman (WI-06) issued the following statement after the FBI raid of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence:

“I continue to be astounded at the degree to which the values of our Republic seem to be eroding,” said Grothman. “The blatant politicization of the Justice Department that we have seen play out over the past several years, culminating in this unprecedented raid on a former President’s home, has led to more and more of my constituents telling me that they are afraid America is in deep danger.

“The public’s opinion of the FBI continues to decline as negative partisanship bleeds into it and other federal agencies that should be nonpartisan.

“In this election season, much focus will, rightfully so, be on inflation and rising prices for American families. But we cannot let the continued politicization of government agencies be a story that goes unreported. The shredding of an American point of unity, our apolitical justice system, is certainly newsworthy.

“I hope that my colleagues across the aisle join me in condemning this unprecedented raid and demand oversight to find out why it happened and what was found. Transparency and accountability are what will lead America back to the more bright-oriented, civil-society we had only a few years ago.”
