Grothman Votes To Defund Planned Parenthood

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) today voted in favor of legislation to defund Planned Parenthood and to protect babies born alive after an abortion. Congressman Grothman is a cosponsor of both The Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015 and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

When videos first surfaced, in which representatives of medical services at Planned Parenthood Federation of America discuss selling baby body parts for profit, Congressman Grothman signed onto a letter urging House Committees to launch an investigation into Planned Parenthood.

The Defund Planned Parenthood Act places a one-year moratorium on federal funding while Congress does a full investigation into these unconscionable practices at Planned Parenthood clinics. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act protects a child born alive after an abortion is performed and states the child should receive the same care other children would receive if born at the same gestational age.

“Life is precious at every stage, and it is repulsive to think that an organization funded with taxpayer dollars is harvesting organs of babies to sell for profit,” said Congressman Grothman. “It is absolutely horrific to think that Planned Parenthood and its affiliates are putting profit over the health of mothers and babies. These videos have forced Congress to confront the abuses of Planned Parenthood. Protecting the unborn is our duty as a nation, and we cannot afford to turn a blind eye any longer.”

U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman is serving his first term representing Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Contact his Washington, D.C., office at (202) 225-2476, or online at grothman.house.gov.
