“It was with great surprise that this morning I found out John Boehner was resigning his post of Speaker and retiring in the next month. While there were times I disagreed with John Boehner, I think when judging him you have remember that in 2009 Republicans had 178 representatives and we now have 247 representatives,” said Congressman Grothman. “You also ought to remember that prior to Republicans taking the majority under Speaker Boehner we were borrowing nearly 40% of the federal budget and we are now borrowing almost 12%. From where we stood in 2009, I would think very few people felt that either of these numbers was attainable. I wish John Boehner and his family all the best in the future and hope our new leadership team can continue moving the above numbers in the right direction.”
