Grothman Attends Obama’s Final State of the UnionCalls President’s Agenda Dangerous, Commits to Conservative Principles
Washington,
January 12, 2016
(WASHINGTON, DC) – Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-WI) released the following statement in response to President Obama’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night. “I was disappointed to hear several dangerous plans laid out in the President’s speech. His proposal to close Guantanamo Bay and transfer dangerous, militant Islamic terrorists into facilities located on the U.S. mainland displays a disturbing set of priorities. Instead of looking out for our national security, I fear that this latest move fits into President Obama’s pattern of putting the welfare of terrorists ahead of the safety and vital interests of the American people. One obvious and necessary first step to prevent another terrorist attack on American soil is to secure our borders. “It is tragic that as we enter the final year of Obama’s tenure in office, the country is worse off than when he took office. His leadership has led to instability around the world, mounting threats from Islamic terrorism at home, and the growth of bureaucracy on a massive scale. Dependency on government has risen and many Americans have simply given up looking for employment in the face of the President’s policies and their stagnating effects on the economy. “I fear that the actions the President will take over the next year will do nothing to alleviate these problems and may only increase them. Now is the time for Congress to take bold action to halt the dangerous agenda of this President. I am committed to promoting conservative legislation, like the Reconciliation bill Congress passed and sent to the President’s desk last week to repeal Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood. I will continue to advocate for the rights enshrined in our Constitution every day that I represent the hardworking people of Wisconsin’s 6th District.” U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman is serving his first term representing Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
