The office of Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) is accepting applications for nominations to the U.S. Service Academies – the United States Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the United States Naval Academy and the United States Air Force Academy – through Oct. 12, 2016. Once all applications have been submitted, a commission of distinguished Sixth District residents will select candidates for an interview. From there, the final nominees will be selected and announced in December 2016. Members of Congress are asked to nominate candidates to the service academies each year. To be considered, candidates must be: a U.S. citizen, single, have no dependents and not be pregnant, at least 17 (but no older than 23) as of the date classes begin and a resident of the Sixth District. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy offers appointments solely on merit-based competition and does not accept congressional nominations. For more information and to apply for a service academy nomination, please visit grothman.house.gov and click on “Military Academy Nominations” under the “Services” tab. U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman is serving his first term representing Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. ### |
