Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-WI) released the following statement regarding a new study done by The Network Contagion Research Institute, and Rutgers University Social Perception Lab, found that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) materials may lead to a range of negative outcomes. These include psychological harm, increased hostility, and a stronger alignment with extreme authoritarian rhetoric. "As Congress works to finalize appropriations for next year, a new study confirms what I and many have long believed to be the real purpose of DEI. According to research from The Network Contagion Research Institute and Rutgers University, DEI programs are fostering division and divisiveness, not unity. This is also discussed in Christopher Rufo’s book, America's Cultural Revolution,” said Congressman Grothman. "The study reveals that DEI initiatives often lead to increased costs and a decline in quality when DEI is prioritized over merit. “At their core, DEI programs are rooted in divisive practices, so there is no justification for maintaining DEI provisions in the current round of negotiations of Appropriations bills in Congress. I urge members of the media to bring this issue to the public’s attention for full transparency. “Interestingly, some companies are beginning to back away from DEI policies. In fact, just today, Walmart announced a rollback of its DEI policies.” -30- U.S. Rep.
