Grothman Statement on OPM Director Katherine Archuleta’s Resignation
Washington,
July 10, 2015
(Washington, D.C.) - Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) released the following statement after Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director, Katherine Archuleta, resigned her position. Calls for Ms. Archuleta’s resignation began after a data breach affecting millions of federal employee records were reported in the media and mounted yesterday after new reports revealed over 21 million federal employees’ personal information had been hacked.
“This is exactly what happens when a partisan president puts an unqualified political operative in charge of a major agency,” said Congressman Grothman. “Ms. Archuleta knew about the massive data breach at OPM but refused to take responsibility and institute the necessary reforms to protect sensitive and confidential information. The Office of Personnel Management needs a new leader who is competent when it comes to cybersecurity threats and protecting the personal information of federal employees. Ms. Archuleta’s decision to step down is the right thing to do.” U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman is serving his first term representing Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
