(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wisconsin) released the following statement after his vote on the floor to block the NLRB Ambush Election rule through a Resolution of Congressional Disapproval. This overreach by the NLRB would have effectively reduced an employee’s ability to make decisions, maintain their privacy, and would particularly burden small businesses by saddling them with increased legal costs and an inability to speak with their employees.
“The National Labor Relations Board’s overreach would undo policy that has been in place for over 70 years. Today I supported the Resolution of Congressional Disapproval, that reins in the NLRB and protects the privacy of employees,” added Congressman Grothman. “The NLRB and employers need to know that employee’s information is private and should be kept that way. This ensures that Americans who participate in the union process do not have to unwillingly hand over their private information.”
“One thing that business wants, and America wants is consistency. This rule specifically targets small businesses with this new regulation. Not all businesses have lawyers on staff, contributing to a fundamental misunderstanding of how business works and why it’s so difficult to go into business today. A small business is less likely to have a lawyer on staff, and they end up paying the price for new rules like this,” said Congressman Grothman on the floor of the U.S. House.
